We prepare to enter the world while nestled in the tranquility of our Mother's womb, surrounded by life's water. In contemplating beginnings and procreation, I thought of Eve. Deities are depicted throughout history, harnessing the power of magic, perched upon thrones, dominating kingdoms and posing for artisans. Why not Eve, with her most beloved and conquered? Adam.

The fluidity and power of the ocean is unmatched. It bends and weathers rock.

It polishes and smoothes glass into perfect softness. It is the cradle of many things explained and unexplained. It lies and tells truths within its reflections. We toss coins into wells for wishes of greatness and wealth. The Lotus flower glides on its leaf pad on still water. Rivers have uprooted and settled civilizations for centuries. It has taken away lovers never to be seen again. We send a message in a bottle to drift upon its changing waves and currents. A stranger retrieves it miles and calendars away.

I imagine Eve rules the water. Her movement, her sheer desire sparks storms and crushing tides. Underneath, she is relentless and unforgiving. She enticed Adam with the serpent's apple. All things grow from her hand like Isis. He wrath canl wash away evidence of existence instantly.

Here Eve is adorned with starfish and glints of light from the sun and the stars. Layers of thinned acrylic paint coupled with muted colored pencil are meant to show the washing effect of the seas salt. Reflective bits of sparkle and sand in gel ink surround the figures.

Detached plants grow roots to survive. Plague and death travel aimlessly within its expansion. Imagine the warmth then- the bitter chill that our sea can create.

Its healing craft erases wounds. But, its extremes are catastrophic.
